Bomb Explosion Kills 7, Injures 31 In Yobe
At least Seven people have been killed and 31 others injured in a bomb attack in Nigeria’s troubled northeastern Yobe state.
The bomb explosion took place on Saturday at a bus station in the town of Damaturu, the capital of Yobe state, according to witnesses. The attack took place when a young girl aged about 12 blew herself up in the middle of a crowd at the bus station. According to the head of the local Sani Abacha hospital, the bomb blast killed six people immediately and injured 32 others. One of the injured people, however, died after being admitted to the hospital, said doctor Garba Fika.
Boko Haram militants recaptured the town of Marte in northeastern Borno state on Friday. The town is located along a strategic trading route between Nigeria and neighboring Cameroon and Chad.
On Wednesday evening, at least nine people were killed after Boko Haram militants launched an attack in Borno state. According to civilian vigilante official, Yusuf Sani, six vigilantes and three soldiers were killed after Boko Haram extremists launched an attack on the outskirts of northeastern city of Maiduguri, near the Giwa military base. Dozens of Boko Haram militants were also killed in the fighting around the military facility.
