Nigerian Prostitutes Trafficking Ring That Uses ‘juju’ Smashed By Spanish Police

A human trafficking ring that uses juju to hoodwink Nigerian ladies to work as prostitutes in European and Asian countries has been smashed by the police in Spain. The pimping ring, according to reports, is run by some Nigerians with their ring leader identified as Tina Osahon from Edo State, herself said to be a former prostitute. The s*x trafficking ring is said to use rituals, including animal and human sacrifice, to force ladies recruited from Nigeria into prostitution in the countries. Aside Osahon, six other traffickers were arrested while four of the victims were freed, reports the police. Senator  Bukola Saraki  has been sworn in as Nigeria’s Senate President. Saraki was said to have been unanimously elected today, June 9, 2015. This follows a crisis which erupted in the  All Progressives Congress  (APC) after the party chose Senator  Ahmed Lawan  as its sole candidate for the position. Saraki however rejected the nomination and was subsequently endorsed by the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Operatives of Lagos State Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, have arrested a notorious car-snatching gang, which specialises in causing mild accident to rob their victims. One of the suspect, who identified himself as Sunday Uzor, revealed that the gang’s mode of operation was to make their victim have a mild accident. According to the 39-year-old indigene of Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State, “While our victims come down to inspect the extent of damage and who the culprit is, our gang would swoop on them and snatch their vehicles.” The other members of the gang arrested alongside Uzor are Ifeanyichukwu Chukwu, 33; Matthew Arome, 27; Ebere John, 32; and Ikechukwu Chilaka, 35. Crisis began after some residents in some parts of the State in south-south Nigeria consumed the suspected poisonous items. Briefing reporters on Monday in Abuja, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) said it would collaborate with the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to establish the real cause of the deaths. According to BBC Africa: The eldest son of Zimbabwe’s First Lady has been fined $800 after being convicted of manslaughter. Russell Goreraza, the stepson of long-time leader Robert Mugabe, knocked down and killed a man in Harare, the country’s capital. The judge said he had decided against jailing the 31-year-old — and taking away his license — because of the defendant’s remorse. Goreraza was also a first-time offender. “I regret and want to apologise for the incident,” he said in court. The BBC claims the lenient sentence has shocked many in Zimbabwe. Two-year prison sentences have been handed down in similar cases. The accident happened in February.

Buhari Reopens $182m Halliburton Bribery Case

Barely one week after the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari, the United States government has asked him to revisit the $182 million Halliburton bribery case and diligently prosecute all those involved in the scandal. President Buhari has, consequently, directed the appropriate security agencies to reopen investigations into the case and make appropriate recommendations, it was gathered on Friday. Informed security sources disclosed to Saturday Tribune that the U.S. government made it clear that unless those involved were prosecuted, part of the bribe money, about $140 million, recovered and still in the US, would not be repatriated to Nigeria. “Following this development, President Buhari has directed the investigation committee made up of representatives of all security agencies to dust off the file and complete the investigations and charge those indicted to court,” the source said. At least four soldiers were killed in a blast that occurred at a checkpoint in Maiduguri, Borno state today June 4th. Eyewitnesses say a truck carrying firewood exploded near the gates of the Maimalari Barracks, killing the soldiers and injuring many others. At the session which was well attended by past Senate Presidents and Senators, the Majority leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba said out of the 591 bills brought before them in the last 4 years, only 123 bills were passed. The 46 passed in less than 10 minutes yesterday is included in the 123 bills passed in the 4 year period of the assembly. Court orders NDLEA to suspend actions on Kashamu's extradition

A Federal High Court in Lagos has asked the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to suspend all actions on the move to extradite the Ogun East Senator-elect, Prince Buruji Kashamu, to the United States to face trial on alleged drug-trafficking offences. The presiding judge, Justice Ibrahim Buba, while adjourning hearing in all pending applications on the subject matter till June 19, said on Thursday that status quo must be maintained till all the applications were decided one way or the other.  Pending before Buba is the committal suit filed by Kashamu against the Attorney General of the Federation and the Chairman of NDLEA, citing them for contempt of court. In response, the NDLEA has filed preliminary objection challenging the jurisdiction of the court to entertain the matter. Besides, the anti-narcotic agency is seeking the reversal of the court order of May 26 which directed it to withdraw more than 50 of his operatives which had laid siege to...

A bomb explosion occurred in front of the Jimeta main market in Yola Adamawa state at about 7:45pm today June 4th. Eyewitnesses say the residents of the area had just finished observing their evening prayers at a nearby praying ground when the bomb detonated. It is believed the explosion was carried out by a male suicide bomber. Unconfirmed reports say as much as ten persons have been certified dead from the blast .

Two sisters raped by a gang of six in Lagos

Two sisters identified as Essiet, 18, and Debby, 20, (not real names) were raped by a gang of six men at Ogundero/ Dahomey street in the Bariga area of Lagos state on Thursday May 28th. According to Punch , the sisters were returning from the hospital when they were accosted by the hoodlums. 4 of the men raped Essiet who was a virgin while two of the hoodlums raped Debby.  While narrating what happened, Essiet said “It happened on May 21 around 11pm. My sister and I went to give food to a family member who had just given birth to a baby in Oworonsoki. We were returning in the night when we saw the men. They had guns, cutlasses and other weapons. They waylaid us and said if we shouted they would kill us. 24 Years Old Woman Shot Dead by Ex boyfriend

A 24 year old woman identified as Marie Shade Adebayo was shot dead yesterday June 1st by a man believed to be her ex-boyfriend outside a Target store in Milestone Center, Montgomery County, Maryland. Police have arrested 27 year old Donald Wayne Bricker Jr for the murder. According to  NBC Washington , witnesses said they saw Shade and Donald involved in some sort of altercation inside a vehicle prior to the shooting. Shade then got out of the vehicle and Donald followed. Investigators say Donald fired his gun at Shade, striking her. According to police, he then walked up to her and fired again. He then took off in a white Ford Ranger. He was arrested by police an hour later. A gun was recovered at the scene of the crash, police said.

FIFA President Sepp Blatter has announced he will be resigning from office as President of the World football body soon. Making the announcement today, Mr Blatter, 79, who was re-elected for a fifth term only four days ago, said the world football governing body will hold an extraordinary congress to elect his successor as soon as possible. “I decided to stand again for election because I thought it was the best option. The election is closed but the challenges have not come to an end. FIFA needs a profound restructuring. Although the members of Fifa have re-elected me president, this mandate does not seem to be supported by everybody in the world of football. This is why I will call an extraordinary congress and step down.” he said This is coming after many called for his resignation following the bribery scandal that engulfed the football governing body and arrest of several top officials.
