APC Youth Leader Clubbed To Death In Benin

The Obagienevbosa Community in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State was on Saturday thrown into confusion and mourning as the Chairman of the Community, Igie Osayande, was shot dead by some hoodlums. The Community leader was attacked along with his brother Igie Obafuedo. Though while Osayande lost his life the brother survived but was taken to a hospital where he is receiving medical attention. Osayande, was killed by the assailant while the voting process was ongoing in Ward 9, Units 9, 10 and 11 in the community situated off Sapele road. The hoodlums were said to have arrived the voting polling center long after accreditation was over and ordered to be accredited. It was gathered that all efforts made by the leaders of the thugs to get accredited failed as the presiding officer said the period for accreditation was over and that voting had already started. UBA trains 300 students on savings in Anambra

UNITED Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, has trained no fewer than 300 students from various secondary schools in Anambra State on money transaction. The training according to the bank is aimed at teaching the students how to make and save money. Delivering a speech to mark the 2015 financial literacy day held at Girls Secondary School, Amaenyi, Awka, in Anambra state, and organized by UBA for students in the State, the Group Managing Director, UBA, Philip Oduoza said the training will encourage the students to become good financial managers in future. Oduoza who praised the students’ performance after listening to their questions during the training, hailed the efforts of Governor Willie Obiano, the Schools management and teachers for giving quality education to the students. 800 Policemen Appointed To Protect Patience Jonathan in Kaduna

About 800 regular and plain-clothe policemen were deployed in Kaduna to provide security for the wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, during the Peoples Democratic Party North-West campaign for women on Wednesday. It was learnt that the 800 policemen also had the support of operatives of other security agencies, including soldiers, who were stationed at strategic locations leading to the venue of the PDP women rally. NDLEA Nabs 3 Nigerians Trying To Smuggle Drugs To Dubai, China At MMIA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested a man smuggling 35.115 kilogramme of Cannabis sativa hidden inside sausage rolls to China. Friday Ogbonna, 33, was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, during a screening of passengers on their way to China, the anti-narcotics agency said in a statement today. In addition to Mr. Ogbonna, the agency also arrested David Famolu, 34, and Joy Osamunyi, 26, on their way to Dubai with 4kg and 19.640kg of cannabis respectively. Ahmadu Giade, NDLEA’s Chairman, said the arrests were made following intelligence reports and intense covert operations by the agency. “It is pertinent to alert members of the public of fresh plot by drug barons to smuggle cannabis to countries with capital punishment for drug trafficking because of the high profit involved,” said Mr. Giade. “Drug barons are wicked and callous. Robbers Attacked & Injured Kano Pillars Players On Their Way To Owerri To Heartland of Owerri

About 5 Kano Pillars players were seriously injured today March 5th after their vehicle was attacked by armed robbers along Abaji-Lokoja road around 1pm this afternoon. The armed robbers opened fire on the bus injuring some of the players. The injured players are; Ubong Ekpai, Gambo Muhammed, Eneji Otekpa, Adamu Murtala, and Reuben Ogbonnaya. 68 killed by Boko Haram in Dambua, Borno

No fewer than 68 people have reportedly been killed by Boko Haram members in a fresh attack in Dambua Local government area of Borno state. According to a civilian JTF Leader who spoke with Sahara Reporters, the sect members stormed Njaba village in Dambua Local Government area around 5.30am on Monday March 2nd, killing at least 68 men; from the elderly to children and then setting the entire village on fire. One of the villagers, Fatima Abakar while given an account of how they were attacked said "They came to our village at about 5:30am, during early Morning Prayer, so we started hearing heavy gunfire [then] there was pandemonium everywhere and gunshots and there was confusions everywhere. I ran into bush since then I never seen my husband and three children. [I] came back to our village in the afternoon dead bodies was scattered everywhere,” she said The Nigerian military has not reacted to this recent attacks by the sect members.

Benue State Commissioner for Rural Development and Cooperatives, Mr. Aondowase Chia has died at the age of 46. According to reports, after presenting the annual budget of his ministry to the state Executive Council yesterday Tuesday March 3rd, he returned to his office where he slumped. He was immediately rushed to the Benue State Teaching Hospital Makurdi, Benue state by his aides. He died in the early hours of today. Born October 27th 1968, Mr Chia was married with eight children. May his soul rest in peace, amen.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on March 4, 2015 arraigned Eleven suspected oil thieves: Ephraim Akpan, Agadagba Ochuko, Clement Tommy, Oyayefa Abonne, Bousou Kereotu, Dereye Harry, Lucky Abonne, Dapo Obdare, Friday Ibude, Ebi Ekokeme, Vincent Elayegha, and the vessel, MT Petroitti before Justice M.S Abubakar of the Federal High Court Warri, Delta State on a 2- count charge bordering on conspiracy and illegal dealing in petroleum product. The accused persons and their vessel were arrested on May 23, 2014 by officers of the Nigerian Navy following a tip off around Ofoma oil terminal in Delta State, with about 272MT of substance suspected to be crude oil and handed over to the EFCC for further investigation and prosecution. Breaking News ; INEC may reprint ballot papers

There are reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) may have to reprint ballot papers for the forthcoming elections to accommodate a political party which was not listed among duly registered parties by the commission, National Mirror reports. This follows the ruling of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja which ordered INEC to include the Young Democratic Party (YDP) among duly registered political parties. Justice Ahmed Mohammed made the order in his judgment on the suit filed by the party, challenging its denial of registration by INEC. Justice Mohammed said that The Young Democratic Party (YDP) was believed registered when INEC failed to inform the then political association‎ of its decision not to register it as a political party within 30 days of receiving its application, as required under Section 78 (4) of the Electoral Act, 2010‎. PenCom fines private employers N1bn

The National Pension Commission has recovered N3.94bn pension contributions that private employers failed to remit to their workers’ Retirement Savings Accounts and fined the firms N1.04bn for the default, investigation has revealed. The figures were contained in a report on the recovery of outstanding pension contributions and interest penalty for the defaulting employers obtained by our correspondent from the commission. “At the end of the third quarter of 2014, the total cumulative recoveries made rose to N4.98bn, comprising principal contributions of N3.94bn and penalty of N1.04bn,” PenCom stated. The commission said it issued demand notices to the defaulting employers whose pension liabilities were established by its appointed recovery agents. PenCom added that during the third quarter of last year, the recovery agents recovered the sum of N884.83m, representing principal contributions and penalty. It also said letters of warning were issued to 255 employers that failed to
