These people have had implants, extreme dental work and even dye injected into their eyeballs to make them look as menacing as possible. Here are photos from the four-day Venezuela Tattoo International Expo in Caracas, which have seen people travel from across the globe to show their extreme body modifications…

Nigerian transgender man talks about the joy & danger of living his truth

Image
He used to be a woman. Born in Lagos Nigeria. Now living in the US as Rizi Xavier Timane, a man. In an interview with Ebony, he reflects on his journey to living his truth, and the burden that comes with doing it in a country (US) that doesn't value 'Black men'. I was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and I was assigned the female gender at birth. Both of these facts amounted to one thing: I had no power, no respect, and no privilege, nor would I have much of any of these throughout my life. Add in that I came from a less than wealthy family and was, for all intents and purposes, a lesbian, and I became a truly invisible human being; when I wasn’t being ridiculed or abused, I basically did not exist. I say "for all intents and purposes" because for as long as I can remember, I never thought of myself as a girl. Though I didn’t know what to call it as a young child—I had no idea there even was a name for what I felt until I was eight years old, when two friends

4 ways to benchmark your social media stats

Image
Begin Here One way that has been really helpful for me to think about benchmarking is splitting it into four key segments: Aspirational Trended Earned Competitive I first heard of this method from  Kevin Shively at Simply Measured . His blog post goes into great depth for each of the four types of benchmarks. Here’s a quick explanation: 1. Aspirationa l Benchmarking: Learning from social leaders. 2. Trended  Benchmarking: Setting goals, projections, and standards based on previous activity. 3. Earned  Benchmarking: Comparing campaign or promotional efforts against a standard for success. 4. Competitive  Benchmarking: Setting goals and baselines for performance and growth based on your direct competitors. The only edit I’d consider for the list is possibly changing competitive benchmarking to inspirational benchmarking, thereby including influencers in the mix along with competitors. One of my big questions when I’m benchmarking is whether or not I’m doing

5 family members found dead at home took 'drugs overdose' to escape 'apocalypse''

Image
Begin Here A couple and three of their children were found dead at home after taking a cocktail of drugs in a tragic 'murder-suicide' - to escape "the evil in the world". Benjamin and Kristi Strack and three of their children, Benson, 14, Emery, 12, and Zion, 11, were found dead in Springville, Utah on September 27 2014. On Tuesday police said they often discussed religiously-held notions of the apocalypse &orchestrated a multi-drug suicide using methadone and other medication. Springville Police Department detective Greg Turnbow, the lead officer on the case, said: "It was a fairly common theme for the parents to talk about, the apocalypse, the end of days, final judgment. Their surviving son, when he was interviewed, indicated that his mother had made comments that if things got bad enough she would much rather take herself and her family out in a comfortable way, rather than a painful way."The information was released at a press confer

Image
Begin Here   The event might have come and gone but the memories still linger.‎ ‎It was a highly impressive event with massive turn out of Abuja residents, fans, friends, sponsors, celebrities and personalities.   A typical example of epoch-making occasion that held audience spell bound till the last display on stage. The event which paraded about 30 contestants on stage representing different states was not only colourful but entertaining as loads of upcoming artists were given opportunities to entertain the audience.  Some personalities were honoured with Democracy heroes award while few organisations and brands were recognised with certificate of honour. The climax of the entertainment was the performance of Star artists MC Terry, Papa (Oga Thomas) Tekno and Jaywon which followed with the crowning of the  Face  of Democracy queens.   The categories of the winners are as follows: •Jennifer Ifeoma Ohia ( FDN IMO)  Face  Of Democracy Nigeria 2014  •Cyn
